Image Playground & Genmoji

Image Playground enables users to generate styled visuals from text prompts or personal photos, while Genmoji gives them the power to create personalized emojis inline with their messages.

Both are built as part of Apple Intelligence’s creative experience.

My Experience

During my time at Apple, I worked as a Visual Curator on Apple Intelligence’s Image Playground, where I helped shape the visual quality and coherence of machine-generated imagery. Applying strong visual judgment, I assessed style and provided feedback for refinement and consistency.

Collaborating closely with ML engineers and data scientists, I aligned visual outcomes with both technical performance and stylistic intent. I also created and refined visual compositions from sourced assets to enhance dataset quality for complex image generation tasks.

Takeaways

This experience deepened my understanding of how design and machine learning can inform one another. I learned how nuanced visual decisions can guide algorithmic behavior, and how human creativity remains central to building expressive, trustworthy AI tools.
